about the artist
melanie peskett fell in love with painting and drawing at a very early age. starting with birds and unicorns she was soon painting larger critters such as horses, lions and gazelles as well as making animal sculptures and jewelry. having no pets of her own, she filled her need to be around animals by working in a pet store. it was when she had her first dog blue in 1986 and her first cat caddo in 1990 that she realized there was more to painting pictorially a pet, the magic was in defining the character.
what people have to say:
“...what a great job you did capturing his personality...I am so grateful to have such a wonderful painting of him and I know one day when he is gone I will treasure it even more than today.” -April
“Your paintings have captured the soul of our sweet furry friends. Your ability to recreate the look and feel of their eyes is magical. We feel as if they are still with us and we can’t thank you enough for sharing your talent in this special way.” -Karen
“i never thought a non-hunter would be able to capture the personalities and dedication of my English Setters as they came to a rigid “Point and Back” position. This artist exceeded all of my expectations and her work hangs most prominently in my study.” -Tom
